SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

8:30 – 10:00 am         Bag drop, sign in, range (available until 10 am), putting green

 

10:30 -- 11:30 am       PRESS CONFERENCE in Lenox Room. “One Year to Go Until the                                                                   Championship  Calendar Change.” Guest speakers: Charlie Robson, 2019 PGA                                             Championship Chairman; Scott Reid, PGA Championship Director,  Elizabeth                                           Wintenberger, NY State Parks Department, Kelley Brooke, Bethpage golf                                                  shop.

 

11:30 am – 12:30 pm  Buffet luncheon

 

12:45 pm                       Assemble at carts, rear of clubhouse. Proceed to starting holes, leave motor carts                                              at tee boxes, walk course. Shotgun start for golf.

 

BLACK COURSE:       The site of the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens, 2012 & 2016 Barclays --- and upcoming                                          site for the 2019 PGA Championship and 2024 Ryder Cup --- is considered one of                                            America’s best public challenges. NOTE: The course is for walkers only.

 

CADDIES:                    Choices: Carry your bag, bring your own caddie, pull/push your own cart (or pull                                            carts will be provided, if requested). Also, you may request a caddie.

 

CADDY FEE:               The fee is $100 per bag, not including tip. NOTE: Caddies do not carry single.                                        Include that thought into your pairing preference(s) for the day.

 

RIDE TO HOLES:       All golfers will ride to starting tees from assembly area, leave carts, walk for golf,                                            then use carts to return to clubhouse after round is completed.   Bethpage pull                                                  carts will be waiting at the tee box for those that have elected to use them.

DIRECTIONS:              LIE to Exit 44-S (Seaford/Oyster Bay Expressway). Proceed 3.5 miles

                                         to Exit 8 (Powell Avenue). Turn left and follow signs to course.

Tuesday, June 5 --- Pound Ridge GC, Pound Ridge, NY. This highly regarded championship course, nestled on the Westchester NY/Fairfield CT border, was designed by Pete Dye. There are five sets of tees. The back tees play 7,165 yards with par at 72. The slope is 150. Quill & Tee competition features our President’s Cup. Presentation and prizes: Shot Scope.

 

Monday, June 18 --- MGWA’s 67th National Awards Dinner, Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY. Padraig Harrington will receive the association’s highest honor, the Gold Tee Award.

 

Tuesday, July 10 --- Edgewood CC, River Vale, NJ.  Quill & Tee GC qualifier for the MGA Four Ball (net better ball) competition. Edgewood course has undergone various changes.

 

Tuesday, August 28 --- Ardsley CC, Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY. (Exact date that week to be announced). Quill & Tee Club Championship & Member-Guest events. Showcasing the new clubhouse, now open, which was built following a devastating fire to its historic facility in December 2014.

 

Thursday, Oct. 4 --- Fresh Meadow CC, Lake Success, NY. MGWA Team Shootout competition. This venerable Long Island club is being honored as the 2018 MGWA club of the year.
